At Pina's table

Born from Tommaso Zorzi’s family memories, La Pina1930 is a tableware collection that reinterprets porcelain, textiles and everyday objects through a contemporary design language, blending references to 20th-century Milan, fairy tales and the rituals of daily life

More than a collection of tableware, La Pina1930 is a story of everyday rituals, domestic gestures and an Italian approach to living together. The project, created by Tommaso Zorzi – the Milanese television presenter, author and content creator – transforms a personal family memory into a brand celebrating the culture of the table.

At the heart of the project is the figure of Nonna Pina, born in 1930 and closely connected to the Milan of the 20th century: a city where design was beginning to become part of everyday life, through the dialogue between craftsmanship, industry and attention to detail. From this heritage comes a collection that looks to the past without nostalgia, reinterpreting familiar forms and images through a contemporary lens. The concept behind La Pina1930 is rooted in the value of a simple gesture: setting the table. Not as a form of display, but as an act of care, capable of creating an atmosphere and bringing people together. It is a vision that brings design back into the most intimate spaces of the home, where objects are not merely functional but become part of the memories created around them.

The first collection unfolds across three chapters: porcelain, cotton and kitchen textiles. Favola explores the world of fairy tales through tableware, reimagined with a graphic language inspired by the creative energy of the 1930s and the experiments of Futurism. Pinocchio, Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots and other iconic characters are transformed into contemporary motifs across plates and accessories, characterised by bold lines and a dynamic aesthetic.

The second collection, Cementine, draws inspiration from one of Milan’s most recognisable domestic details: the decorative cement tiles that featured in the interiors of early 20th-century homes. Translated onto cotton placemats and napkins, the geometric patterns evoke a refined everyday elegance shaped by architecture, memory and urban identity.

The project is completed by Canovacci, a series of kitchen textiles featuring familiar domestic scenes: a steaming moka pot, a basket of lemons, a dancing teapot. Ordinary moments become visual narratives, turning a simple kitchen accessory into an object with emotional value.

With La Pina1930, Tommaso Zorzi starts from a personal story to create a project that speaks to a wider heritage: the Italian art of hospitality, the pleasure of sharing a meal and a vision of design that belongs to real life. A collection celebrating the quiet elegance of objects made to be used, loved and lived with every day.
