Designing spaces dedicated to hospitality today means going beyond the creation of beautiful and functional environments. It means shaping experiences, understanding the relationship between people and places, and creating atmospheres capable of enhancing wellbeing. This is the focus behind Studio Gascón, founded by Gabriele Gascón, an international practice with offices in Lugano, Montreux and Milan, specialising in high-end hospitality and private healthcare projects.

“The Italian Hotel & Clinic Signature” encapsulates the studio’s philosophy: a design identity born from the encounter between Italian cultural heritage and Swiss precision, between aesthetic sensitivity and technical rigour. This vision is deeply rooted in the personal journey of its founder, Gabriele Gascón, who was born in Ragusa, Sicily, and grew up between the healthcare world and his family’s entrepreneurial background. These experiences shaped an approach in which architecture, hospitality and care are deeply interconnected.

For Gascón, every project begins with an understanding of the identity of the place and the client. Rather than applying a predefined style, the studio develops bespoke solutions through a process that integrates architecture, interior design, materials, lighting and furnishings. Luxury is interpreted not as excess, but as a tangible quality expressed through balanced proportions, attention to detail, comfort and the ability to create immersive experiences.

This philosophy finds one of its strongest expressions in the field of private healthcare, where Studio Gascón has developed an approach that challenges the traditional image of medical environments. The renovation of Clinique Valmont in Glion sur Montreux is a significant example: warm materials, natural light and solutions inspired by hospitality design transform spaces of care into more welcoming environments, conceived to support both the physical and emotional wellbeing of patients.

Within the hospitality sector, the studio focuses instead on the dialogue between memory, context and contemporary living. The refurbishment of Hotel Splendide Royal in Lugano addresses the challenge of enhancing comfort while preserving the historic character of the property, while Palazzo Giovanelli in Venice explores the relationship between heritage conservation and contemporary hospitality, balancing original features with new functional requirements.

With Habitat Lago Maggiore, Studio Gascón takes this approach further by exploring a model of hospitality deeply connected to the landscape. Light, materials and nature become design tools for creating spaces that merge with their surroundings, transforming a stay into an experience of regeneration. Supported by a multidisciplinary team working across its different locations, Gascón Group combines creative vision with strong organisational expertise, overseeing every stage of the process, from the initial concept to the final execution.

A method that ensures consistency and quality regardless of the scale of the project. Through Gabriele Gascón’s work, architecture becomes a tool for creating places capable of welcoming, inspiring and standing the test of time. Hotels, clinics and wellbeing spaces share a common ambition: to create environments where aesthetics and function achieve a natural balance.
