The evolution of the surface

With CHALLENGERPRO, Boero Yacht Coatings introduces a new generation of topcoat systems for the superyacht sector. Mirror-like gloss, extreme resistance and advanced customisation through PUREPROTECTION™

In the world of superyachts, the surface is never a detail. It is aesthetics, technology and durability combined into a single language. From this understanding comes CHALLENGERPRO, the new range of finishing systems developed by Boero Yacht Coatings. A system that does not simply finish a surface but defines its behaviour over time.

The philosophy is PUREPROTECTION™, the distinctive promise and technological standard of the system, an approach that combines protection and aesthetic performance without compromise, designed for the highest demands of international yachting. Boero, a historic Italian company founded in 1831 and now part of the international CIN group, operates across the building and yachting sectors with a strong focus on innovation. In the marine segment, around 3% of turnover is invested in research and development, supported by a dedicated centre and a team of over 40 specialists.

CHALLENGERPRO is born within this ecosystem, where colour is never just colour, but measurable and engineered performance. The system is designed for high-performance yachts and superyachts. Not a single product, but a fully integrated system, in which every layer, from primer to topcoat, works in continuity with the next. The result is a continuous surface, deep and highly reflective, with a mirror-like finish designed to maintain its intensity over time, even in extreme marine conditions.

At the core of the range is CHALLENGERPRO Fusion, a high-gloss polyurethane finishing system that combines an advanced polyester binder with Boero’s in-house acrylic tinting system. The formulation ensures high resistance to abrasion, weathering and marine wear, while maintaining stable gloss and colour performance even after prolonged exposure. Alongside performance, the system introduces strong application flexibility, a key factor in shipyard environments. The range of thinners allows adaptation to different working conditions, reducing complexity and application time.

Colour customisation becomes an integral part of the system through CHALLENGERMIX, the digital tinting platform enabling more than 245,000 formulations thanks to 64 base colours, six binders, three catalysts, six thinners, two clear coats and three special additives. In this context, CHALLENGERPRO stands as a synthesis of aesthetics and performance, where the surface becomes an active part of the yacht design process.
