Material resonance: from space to object

At Milan Design Week 2026, MMA Projects presented two distinct projects: RESONANCE, a luxury suite exploring the relationship between body and space, and Mosaico, a mirror-sculpture designed for Brame The Mirror that brings together design, light and Italian craftsmanship

For Milan Design Week 2026, MMA Projects unveiled two projects that demonstrate the studio’s ability to work across different scales, from architecture to product design, while maintaining a consistent focus on experience, formal research and design culture. On one hand, a vision of future hospitality developed for ArchiTexturExpo‘s “Body Interaction – Luxury Suite” showcase; on the other, a mirror-sculpture born from a collaboration with leading names in Italian manufacturing.

RESONANCE
As part of ArchiTexturExpo, the new exhibition format dedicated to the relationship between materials, design and production at Fondazione Matalon, MMA Projects presents RESONANCE, a hotel suite conceived as an immersive sensory experience.
The project draws inspiration from Torre Rinalda, a historic coastal watchtower overlooking the sea in Puglia, reimagined as a single-suite boutique hotel arranged across three levels. Here, the concept of Body Interaction takes shape as an ongoing dialogue between body, space and material, with every element designed to stimulate both physical and emotional responses.

At the heart of the project is a travertine staircase connecting the different levels. Conceived as a ribbon of stone, it features a poem engraved in Braille along the handrail, transforming touch into an integral part of the experience. Warm, adjustable lighting enhances the textures and surfaces, while a cylindrical water feature introduces a soothing soundscape that evokes the sea and encourages contemplation.

The lounge welcomes guests into a fluid environment shaped by organic forms and tactile materials. On the upper floor, the bedroom is defined by a perforated and backlit natural stone wall that filters light and creates an atmospheric sense of suspension. The top level is dedicated to wellbeing, with a bathroom where light, water and materiality come together to create a fully immersive environment. The bathtub and shower emerge from a bed of smooth pebbles that engage the body through movement, while finishes featuring Amazonite quartzite enrich the space with colour and sensory depth.

With RESONANCE, MMA Projects imagines a new approach to hospitality, where design goes beyond defining a space to create a meaningful connection between people and their surroundings.

MOSAICO
Presented at QG Design Hub, Mosaico is a mirror-sculpture designed by MMA Projects for Brame The Mirror and developed in collaboration with Emboss and Luce Tu.
The project stems from the meeting of design research, technological innovation and Italian manufacturing expertise, transforming an everyday object into a sculptural presence that engages with both architecture and space. Through a play of surfaces, depth and reflections, the mirror moves beyond its conventional function to become a compositional element capable of altering the perception of its surroundings. The piece further demonstrates MMA Projects’ ability to translate its architectural language into product design while maintaining the same attention to proportion, detail and craftsmanship. In Mosaico, reflection becomes a design material, while light acts as a tool for creating new relationships between object, space and observer.
