Untold Editions launches in New York

Samantha Gallacher and Andreea Avram Rusu launch a new artist-led gallery model, where the creators themselves present works that merge functional art and high craftsmanship, moving beyond the traditional format

Untold Editions, an exhibition space proposing an innovative model for the city’s art scene, has officially opened its doors at 20 West 20th Street in New York. Founded by Samantha Gallacher of Art+Loom and Andreea Avram Rusu of Avram Rusu Studio, the gallery brings together two distinct practices to create a space where functional art and high craftsmanship are presented directly by their creators.

Untold Editions consciously departs from the traditional curator-led gallery format, positioning itself instead as a living platform driven by the vision, material sensibility, and creative dialogue of its founders. The intent is to move beyond simple exhibition to offer a more intimate and narrative experience. “We wanted to propose something that reflects how people live with design, where material, light, and form come together in a cohesive narrative,” explains Andreea Avram Rusu.

The goal, as Samantha Gallacher emphasizes, is to create a space “dedicated to distinctive works that merge art with function, curated by the makers themselves for a discerning collector.” This philosophy translates into an environment defined by material integrity and artisanal production.

The inaugural installation, in addition to presenting the founders’ work, includes pieces by Franck Genser, Manifeste Edition, Mary Ratcliffe, Billiani, Aguirre, Virginia Arlotta, Parts+Assembly, Casey Johnson, and Kayla OD. Custom drapery by WOVN Home also helps to define the environment. The result is a choral dialogue among diverse expressions of craftsmanship and contemporary design, united by an approach that prioritizes the narrative of the creative process and the direct relationship between the work and its viewer.
