Proposte: beyond the exhibition

The textile fair returns to Villa Erba from May 5 to 7 with a renewed lineup of exhibitors and many new features in terms of services and initiatives aimed at fostering relationships and networking – with a touch of style

Proposte is renewing both its format and exhibition. The new edition of the fair, held in Cernobbio from May 5 to 7, updates its content and services to become even more inspiring and functional in creating business and networking opportunities, while adding a touch of style and comfort for both visitors and exhibitors. Among the new features is an expanded and carefully curated selection of manufacturers (a total of 87 from 14 countries) specializing in upholstery fabrics, curtains, trimmings, and wall coverings. Another key focus of the event is its curation, aimed at creating a fully immersive experience. Many spaces have been redesigned, with new hubs created as venues for connection, and new areas for rest and relaxation introduced to offer a more leisure-oriented dimension, all within a setting in direct contact with nature and the beauty of Lake Como.

A fundamental contribution came from designer and architect Cristina Celestino, who was tasked with redesigning the common areas of Villa Erba. In line with the fair’s guiding theme, “Heritage Forward,” she revitalized the Regina Wing (which, together with the Cernobbio and Lario areas, forms the exhibition pavilion), placing textiles at the center and integrating a selection of products from exhibitors Casalegno Tendaggi, MuvantexBekaert Depla, Pozzi Arturo, and Viganò. The long corridor of the wing has thus been transformed into an inspirational showcase of textile language, leading to the new Lounge Esedra, designed for moments of relaxation and networking.

Overlooking the historic gardens with its semicircular architecture, the Esedra Lounge conveys the lightness and refinement of the location: fabrics become enveloping theatrical backdrops framing contemporary design pieces – the iconic Gala sofas by Saba and the Claretta table lamps by Contardi Lighting. This space becomes a modern conversation lounge where visitors can browse magazines from numerous media partners and enjoy a tasteful break – from petit fours and gourmet delicacies to the exclusive Proposte Signature Drink.

In this new edition, Proposte combines decoration, design, and food experience, expressing the concept of Made in Italy in its many facets. Also designed by Cristina Celestino, the two bars in the congress center – located in the Lario and Cernobbio wings – have been redesigned for a more informal service. An Open Air Café allows guests to enjoy the stunning lake view while seated on furniture by Roda, Meridiani, and Crema Outdoor. Meanwhile, in the historic Villa Antica, the food experience becomes more refined with a high-end buffet.

“For this new edition of Proposte, we wanted to place even greater emphasis on the quality of the visitor experience,” explains Marco Parravicini, President of Proposte. “Not only through the excellence of the collections, but by rethinking the entire exhibition journey and enhancing services – particularly the food offering – so that even moments of pause become opportunities for discovery and enjoyment. Our goal is to offer a complete, welcoming experience consistent with the high standards that have always distinguished Proposte.”
