A sensory journey of taste and sight

References to nature, organic lines, and warm lighting define the soul of MOI, the new London restaurant by YODEZEEN that subtly nods to Japan, both in its cuisine and interiors

Strolling through the vibrant and energizing streets of Soho, numerous surprises can capture one’s attention. Recently, a sculptural element has been added, mimicking the form of a snake as it winds through a venue, eventually reaching one of its display windows: it intrigues, beckons, seduces. With its flexible lines and natural material cladding, it invites exploration of MOI, a restaurant offering refined Japanese cuisine conceived as an experience capable of engaging all senses.

Intimate, warm, and enveloping, its atmosphere alludes to certain Tokyo establishments, where the setting is bathed in a play of shadows orchestrated by a palette of soft, gentle, relaxing lights. A contemporary reinterpretation of such scenes, MOI seduces with the generous presence of natural materials – wood, in particular – its earthy tones, the skillful calibration of chromatic components, and its tactile, material nature.

Every detail contributes harmoniously to the narrative of the space, inviting a gastronomic experience that engages both taste and sight, the pleasure of flavor and the aesthetic gratification of beauty. «We wanted to create a space that is more than just a place to eat – it’s a sensory experience. From the moment you walk in, you are enveloped in the atmosphere, with every element contributing to the overall narrative», says Anna Tarabanova, Managing Partner at YODEZEEN

«We worked closely with contractors across the globe to ensure the highest quality in every design element, with the ultimate goal of delivering a unique and unforgettable experience for every guest». Contributing to the dramatic aspect of this dense narrative tapestry are the open kitchen, which highlights the culinary art of the chefs, and the spiral staircase leading from the first to the second level, conceived as a fluid, organic cloak that intensifies the allure of discovery.
