Roca: new domestic rituals

Essential volumes, natural light and references to coastal southern landscapes define Mediterranean Rituals, the installation with which Roca brings a reflection on the contemporary bathroom to Milan Design Week 2026, at the intersection of design, innovation and the quality of living

At Milan Design Week 2026, Roca presents Mediterranean Rituals, an installation designed by Barcelona-based architecture studio Mesura, which transforms the bathroom into a spatial experience inspired by Mediterranean ways of living. More than a stand, the project unfolds as a sequence of interconnected environments where light, materials and proportions construct a continuous narrative between architecture, design and technology.

The concept takes shape through modular volumes, architectural voids and passageways that echo the tradition of Mediterranean homes, where thresholds, courtyards and shared spaces define the rhythm of everyday life. At the centre of the installation, a grand staircase becomes a defining gesture, evoking the seamless continuity between indoors and outdoors typical of Southern European architecture.

Within this setting, Roca presents a selection of its latest collections, integrated into the structure as part of a coherent narrative. Meridian, redesigned by Barcelona studio Altherr Désile Park, reinterprets one of the brand’s most recognisable lines through soft geometries and arches that combine ceramics, furniture and metal finishes in a refined, contemporary language.

Among the highlights is also In-Wash® Vorea, the latest smart toilet, winner of both the Red Dot Award and the iF Design Award, which integrates advanced hygiene and comfort functions within a discreet, intuitive design. Technology becomes an integral part of the everyday experience, without ever feeling intrusive.

The collaboration with the Ohtake family also continues: the Ohtake collection, originally developed with Brazilian architect Ruy Ohtake and now carried forward by his son Rodrigo, introduces washbasins and bathtubs defined by organic, fluid forms, where design meets the technical precision of ceramic craftsmanship.

Alongside these collections, Roca also presents Avant, a toilet system with an integrated flushing mechanism that requires no electricity or complex in-wall installation, and Verso, a modular bathroom furniture system designed to adapt to different layouts and lifestyles.

The brand’s presence extends across the city through a series of collaborations and installations. These include Appartamento Spagnolo 2026, curated by Studiopepe for Elle Decor Italia, MUTANTI – Bodies, Minds, Matter in Transformation at Fabbrica del Vapore, and FÒCO. Living Notes by Studiopepe for Archiproducts Milano.

With Mediterranean Rituals, Roca offers a reflection on the bathroom as a complex architectural space, where technology, materiality and everyday rituals come together in an experience increasingly shaped by wellbeing and the quality of living.
