Living without boundaries

The Orizzonte collection expands with a brand-new sunbed. Designed by Pininfarina for Reflex, it is conceived as a flexible, transformable, and customizable system that interprets design as a lifestyle

This collaboration represents an evolution of the partnership between Pininfarina and Reflex – an approach rooted in the constant pursuit of innovation and beauty, taking shape in furnishings defined by a strong and distinctive graphic identity. Ten years ago, it began with Segno: a collection that explores the concept of dynamism through the application of a pure, bold yet sinuous line, which becomes the defining element of seating, tables, bookcases, lamps, and outdoor accessories. Then came Orizzonte, launched last year and now expanded with a new open-air element. Once again, a light graphic stroke guides the design of an exclusive series of furnishings, giving them a deep evocative value, as well as aesthetic and functional appeal.

At Milan Design Week, Pininfarina and Reflex present the new sunbed from the Orizzonte collection, addressing the theme of modularity and versatility through a design conceived to fit into any setting – from domestic interiors to lounges, offices, public spaces, or even yachts. Defining the entire range is a horizontal line that runs through each piece, visually dividing it into two halves. This expressiveness inspires the name Orizzonte (Horizon), along with an idea of openness, freedom, and possibility. Perfectly embodying the concept, the collection’s sunbed emphasizes horizontality through its wooden element, generous yet compact volumes, and a clean, fluid profile. At the heart of the system is the modular sofa – which includes traditional and curved seating, as well as double seats and island units: each module can stand alone or combine with others to create tailored solutions. The same principle also guides the table, which echoes the collection’s design codes.

Alongside its refined and streamlined aesthetic, Orizzonte also expresses strong rationality: in upholstered pieces, the horizontal line becomes a clever solution for integrating wooden inserts, transforming them into raised side tables or connecting tables between modules – further enhancing customization possibilities. In the sunbed, this same feature separates the reclining backrest from the base and conceals a practical storage compartment. Seating flexibility is another key innovative element of the collection: in the sofa modules, backrests can be manually adjusted simply by pushing or pulling them, without compromising comfort or structure. This design approach – always striving to go beyond the ordinary, a hallmark of Pininfarina’s DNA – reveals the essence of the collaboration between the two brands. Orizzonte thus interprets furniture as a dynamic ecosystem that connects spaces and people. A design without boundaries, creating a new and sophisticated dimension of lifestyle.
