Between innovation and heritage preservation

An intervention that restores to the city of Rome a place suspended between historical memory and cultural innovation, thanks to Poltrona Frau's contribution

Built in 1958 to a design by architect Tomaso Buzzi and Countess Anna Laetitia “Mimì” Pecci Blunt, Rome‘s Teatro della Cometa returns, after five years of closure, to its original beauty and functionality with a new visual identity by the Sonnoli studio.

The redevelopment project required a delicate balance between innovation and heritage protection, with each seat designed to blend in with the original architectural elements from the 1950s, while complying with structural constraints and safety regulations. Poltrona Frau‘s contribution, at the invitation of architect Fabio Tudisco, consisted of the Custom Interiors Business Unit developing seats inspired by the TLT model, adapting them to the specific characteristics of the stalls, gallery 1, and gallery 2. Three different heights were created for optimal viewing from every point in the hall, with particular attention paid to the angle of the seat and backrest in order to optimize visibility and acoustic enjoyment.
