Contemporary oasis

Cassina unveils its 2026 Outdoor collection – spanning systems, reissues and new developments that redefine open-air living through design

For its 2026 Outdoor collection, Cassina adopts a title that reads as a manifesto: “Oasis of Now.” At its core is the idea of the outdoors as an extension of the home – a place to pause and reconnect with one’s surroundings. The project outlines a coherent system of furnishings, materials and use, where interior and exterior flow seamlessly into one another.

Within the collection, Patricia Urquiola – Cassina’s art director – introduces Vidalenta, a system for living and dining areas. Here, metal tubing forms essential, visually light structures, a contemporary take on bamboo, set in deliberate contrast with the soft, rounded volumes of the upholstery. The line remains continuous; only in the legs of the tables, high or low, do the tubes cluster into sculptural groupings, evoking fluted columns in a subtle nod to Art Deco.

The Eloro Outdoor system marks a further step forward. Developed by Cassina with Dordoni Studio, it evolves a 2008 project by Rodolfo Dordoni. Structure and materials are updated for outdoor use, while the original concept is preserved.

Alongside these systems, the collection features reissues and extensions. The Dalila chair by Gaetano Pesce, originally designed in 1980, appears as a functional sculpture, available in four colors and made from expanded polyurethane using a technique that minimizes joint lines. Novetrenta Outdoor revisits a 1960s design by Vico Magistretti (introduced by Cassina in 1966), while Luca Nichetto’s Torei Outdoor tables extend a project launched in 2024.

The catalogue expands through targeted updates, new textiles, lighting elements and rugs, shaping a body of work that extends the brand’s language over time. The Carlotta armchair by Afra & Tobia Scarpa, paired with its matching table, is now offered in natural iroko wood or lacquered in two new shades, while Antonio Citterio’s Esosoft Outdoor system gains a new sunbed.
