Sometimes, a powerful sentiment drives a project. Such is the case with Babbo, a 43-meter explorer yacht commissioned by three owner brothers who wanted to spend holidays together with their families. They envisioned a yacht with more cabins and ample social spaces, an evolution of the first Babbo. While the owners cherished the atmosphere of the original, its limited space wasn’t ideal for their family gatherings at sea. This new iteration, however, is perfectly sized. Across its four decks, it offers generous volumes and six suites – four nearly identical double cabins and two twin cabins on the lower deck for children or guests – capable of accommodating up to twelve guests. All suites feature the same high standard of comfort and design, ensuring no hierarchy among them.
The yacht also features a spacious main saloon dominated by the Harper sofa, designed by Antonio Citterio for Flexform, with its saddled leather armrest (fronted by a coffee table with a Calacatta marble top). Aft, the cockpit transforms into a floating platform over the sea. The upper deck hosts a sky lounge, perfect for indoor dining, furnished with Maxalto‘s Pathos table paired with light leather Febo armchairs, and an additional relaxation or conversation area equipped with Maxalto’s Lucrezia Soft sofa, all in neutral tones.
For the exterior lines, Francesco Paszkowski opted for a blend of elegance and impeccable proportions, with horizontal windows subtly lightening the silhouette of the 8mm steel hull and aluminum superstructure. Inside, the ambiance is one of understated refinement, achieved through light maple walls, ultra-matte wide-plank oak flooring with a tatami finish, and a palette of white and beige furnishings, accented by dark brown elements to emphasize architectural harmony.
Lighting prioritizes discreet ceiling spotlights and linear recessed wall lights, creating a soft, never intrusive effect. Finally, the engines: two Caterpillar C32 Acert, each delivering 746 kW, which significantly reduce fuel consumption and NOx emissions, ensuring a range exceeding 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. This is a yacht designed for long voyages, but its purpose extends beyond that: «Babbo was conceived to be a family home on the water… Functional, refined, without unnecessary ostentation», one of the owners revealed. Given the outcome, the goal appears to have been achieved.
