BGF45: sustainable soul, racing performance

Bluegame launches the new BGF45, the result of experience gained in the America's Cup. A new multihull that combines maximum comfort, excellent performance, and low fuel consumption

From the America’s Cup to recreational yachting: Bluegame‘s innovative approach is part of an evolutionary process characterized by cutting-edge technology, continuous research, and bold experimentation. The brand, part of the Sanlorenzo group, has transformed the experience gained in racing into a new model, drawing on its performance and vision of sustainable innovation.

The result is the revolutionary BGF45 multihull, previewed at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival. Bluegame was inspired by the BGH-HSV (Hydrogen Support Vessel), the chase boat that supported the American Magic and Orient Express Racing Team during the 37th America’s Cup in 2024, capable of reaching 50 knots with zero emissions thanks to its entirely hydrogen-powered propulsion and a range of 180 miles.

This pioneering spirit has been transferred to the world of recreational boating with the BGF45, the first model in the new BGF range, which integrates the foil technologies developed on the BGH while expanding the brand’s multihull portfolio, with a strong focus on versatility, innovation, and Italian excellence. Fundamental to this has been the collaboration with Mario Caponnetto and Francis Hueber, renowned experts in hydrodynamics who, after working alongside the Bluegame team on the BGH-HSV project, are now contributing to the BGF45, perfecting the hull design and enhancing its performance.

The distinctive feature of the BGF45 design is its perfect balance between excellent performance and reduced environmental impact. The foil-assisted system, positioned between the hulls, significantly reduces drag, increasing speed, stability, and fuel efficiency by over 40%. Powered by two Volvo Penta IPS engines, the new 45-foot boat guarantees maximum sailing comfort, even at speeds above 30 knots, offering smooth handling and effortless maneuverability.

The BGF45 is revolutionary in its sustainable, technological approach—thanks in part to strategic partnerships with Garmin and Siemens – Innovative Technology Partner – and design: the synergy between Luca Santella and Zuccon International Project has resulted in a design that is as refined as it is sporty. The BGF45 makes the most of the large volumes of the multihull, with an open layout that includes two cabins and a third multipurpose area. Outside, large sunbathing areas and a refined beach area enhance the open-air lifestyle on board.

A prototype designed for extreme challenges has thus given rise to a concrete and disruptive line of boats, designed for visionary owners looking for something new and deeply connected to the sea.
