“Frames of Nature,” the new edition of Open Air Design

From September 18 to 21, the exhibition dedicated to outdoor design returns to the Biblioteca degli Alberi in Milan. This new edition is inspired by the world of cinema

Talking about design in the open air, surrounded by greenery and immersed in a lively and dynamic atmosphere, in the beating heart of Milan. This is the setting for the new edition of Open Air Design, the annual exhibition dedicated to outdoor design organized by COIMA Image, which celebrates its fifth edition this year. From September 18 to 21, inside BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano, the event will enliven the city with workshops, talks, artistic performances, and installations open to the public, creating opportunities for meeting and exploring the theme of design, exploring the connections between design, architecture, and art.

Curated by Mosca Partners, the 2025 edition revolves around the theme “Frames of Nature” and is directly inspired by the world of cinema: like design, cinema is capable of constructing imaginaries, inspiring change, and innovating aesthetic language. Thus, the event will also feature an exceptional film curation by Muse Factory of Projects, offering a selection of Italian and international documentaries that explore the relationship between man and nature.

Numerous design companies are taking part in the event, interpreting the theme with installations that convey their vision and creative journey. Artemide, Gessi, Kartell, Antonio Marras + Nodo are just some of these, along with Poliform, which is staging the installation “Frames of Beauty,” evocative of Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grande Bellezza: an imaginary terrace surrounded by nature, a setting of furnishings that recalls a suspended place where natural materials and essential forms tell a story of timeless beauty.
