Twenty years of vision

Wall&decò marks its twentieth anniversary with a seaside celebration in Cervia and unveils two innovations at the intersection of aesthetics and sustainability

On June 12, Wall&decò celebrated two decades of activity with an event on the beaches of Milano Marittima, at the MarePineta Resort. An evening with clients and international press retraced the history of the company, founded in 2005 in Cervia. Ten sails, printed on both sides with emblematic graphics, symbolized the bond between the brand, its designers, and its Romagna origins.

Twenty years of imagery and ideas, a journey that founder Christian Benini describes as follows: “Every new wallpaper design is the result of a shared process, built in close synergy with our team of designers. International patents have certainly supported our growth, but above all, what made the difference was the disruptive idea of decorating spaces that were traditionally plain.”

The constant dialogue between creativity and technical innovation remains the brand’s guiding thread, with a current portfolio of 42 designers. For the anniversary, Wall&decò introduced Grasstique, a new substrate made of woven plant-based fibers. Available in two versions – with visible knots or with a uniform surface – it marks a step toward natural, sustainable materials, combining reduced environmental impact with acoustic and climatic comfort.

The company’s research path continues on October 1 with the global launch of Aquabout Wet System™, an evolution of Wet System, the waterproof wallpaper introduced in 2014 for environments such as bathrooms, showers, kitchens, pools, and spas. Aquabout Wet System™ employs water-based resins to reduce environmental impact while simplifying installation. The new system requires no special certification, allows tools to be reused, and shortens installation times. Performance includes resistance to water, detergents, impact, and scratches, along with fire safety certifications and successful testing for hospital use.

Aquabout Wet System™ is also a collection of designs inspired by the marine world, articulated through six key themes: Water: Deep and iridescent hues; Water: Reflections and movement; Corals: Life and delicacy; Out of focus: Like a dream; Pink sands: Dream and matter; Like rocks: Strength and form. A visual language that underlines the brand’s intention to merge aesthetics, technological research, and sustainability.

It is on the “eco” dimension that Gianluca Laganà, CEO of Wall&decò, offers a clear perspective: “It is evident that the world is increasingly oriented toward sustainable materials, though not always is there a consumer willing to recognize a premium price for an eco-friendly product. For our part, we remain vigilant not to fall into the perception of ‘greenwashing’ at any cost: wallpaper inevitably requires adhesives for installation. Yet innovation, even in this field, is part of our DNA – together with the desire to surprise.”
