What do you want Brick?

Until September 28th, at CID Grand-Hornu (Belgium), a group exhibition exploring the evolution of the brick, from its origins to contemporary experimentation. On display, works by Aalto, Sodi, Kundoo, Farocki, and others

What do you want Brick?, a title inspired by a famous question posed by Louis Kahn, is a collective reflection on the identity and versatility of brick, a primitive material with infinite potential. The exhibition presents over 50 works showing how architects, artists, and designers have reimagined this archetypal element, pushing beyond its structural function.

From construction to pure form, from creative reuse to the use of natural materials and industrial waste, the show intertwines sustainable research with poetic experimentation. Brick becomes a filter, a decorative motif, an art object, or a symbolic code – an inquiry into the expressive possibilities of matter, between function and vision.
