Poliform redefines Brera's allure

Poliform has contributed to the interior design of Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan, with a project that seamlessly blends the brand's signature furnishings with bespoke creations

Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan, stands as Marriott International’s newest addition in the city—a sophisticated, design-led homage to Milan itself. The project, conceived by Patricia Urquiola Studio, masterfully integrates the characteristic art, design, and atmosphere of the Brera district, reinterpreting them with a contemporary flair in both the interiors and culinary offerings. Within this exquisite setting, Poliform‘s signature is evident throughout, from the common areas to the guest rooms and suites. Each space showcases a meticulously refined aesthetic, featuring highly sought-after and custom-made furnishing solutions. Poliform’s Contract Division approached the project with a tailored vision, meticulously shaping it and enhancing the environments with a sophisticated selection of materials, textures, and tones.

Designed as intimate retreats for relaxation, the 116 rooms (including 16 suites) feature a warm, neutral palette and soft, natural materials. Poliform developed the architectural framework with an emphasis on tactile qualities: fluted walnut boiserie panels are juxtaposed with deep forest-green lacquered surfaces, while fabric-lined niches create a cocoon-like effect. Large padded headboards, along with wardrobes and entrance doors, complete the sophisticated interior. The furnishings echo this concept, expressed through sinuous and elegant lines. Bedside tables, side tables, bed bases, sofas, end-of-bed benches, and vanity mirrors harmoniously blend the softness of fabrics with the Art Deco allure of mirrored surfaces, brass details, and wood inserts. This aesthetic attention extends to the bathrooms, where Poliform created glass partition walls for showers and separators between the bathroom and bedroom areas.

In contrast, the common areas feature a distinctly different ambiance, characterized by intense, bold colors and a highly impactful material mix. Here too, Poliform’s expertise shines through in its ability to create cohesive and complete environments, combining architectural elements, furnishings, and decorative details, all entirely custom-made. From the reception and lobby to the hotel’s three restaurants, the company oversaw every structural detail, crafting bespoke counters, boiserie panels, ceilings, and a range of custom furnishings, including fixed benches, chairs, and stools. The result is harmonious and sophisticated spaces, distinguished by intricate details and thoughtful compositional choices expertly enhanced by Poliform.

In the lobby, which features the adjoining “Casa Brera Living” all-day lounge bar, an imposing marble counter immediately captures the eye. It is adorned with geometric detailing and complemented by specially designed stools. At the Japanese restaurant “Odachi,” wooden surfaces create a welcoming, East-inspired ambiance, complemented by soft upholstery and custom seating. Meanwhile, the “Scena” restaurant offers a more vibrant and sensory experience, achieved through a combination of diverse materials: natural veined marble, wood (also used for fluted benches), and leather upholstery for the custom-designed seating and tables. Finally, the “Etereo” skybar and restaurant offers panoramic city views from its rooftop. Here, another striking marble counter with geometric patterns echoes the backlit, fabric-effect ceiling. This piece further exemplifies Poliform’s versatility and design prowess in crafting entirely bespoke solutions.
