Amalfi refuge

In Ravello, Palazzo Avino is reborn with Cristina Celestino reinterpreting seven suites, enhancing the luxury overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Scenic beds, Venini lights, and colors inspired by the sea create intimate treasure chests of elegance

Overlooking the Amalfi Coast, 350 meters above sea level, Palazzo Avino in Ravello is the result of the renovation of Palazzo Sasso, a former 12th century noble residence. Mariella Avino invited Cristina Celestino to work on seven of the hotel’s most important rooms and suites (there are 43 rooms in all, including ten suites).

The focal point of these redesigned rooms is the bed, set against a slightly concave wall. For the lighting of the suites, a series of compositions were chosen using Poliedri elements designed by Carlo Scarpa and manufactured by Venini in blown crystal glass, arranged on different levels. Colors range from the hotel’s signature absolute white to three different moods: aquamarine, coral and sand. “This thoughtful use of color creates spaces that feel like intimate cabinets of curiosity,” explains Celestino.
