A new window on Milan

Martinelli Luce opens its first exhibition space in the heart of the design capital, a place where product and design meet

For Martinelli Luce, the Milan Design Week was a special and meaningful occasion. A double stage: on the one hand, the perfect showcase to unveil the many new products during Euroluce; on the other, the ideal moment to celebrate a new milestone with the inauguration of the first Milanese showroom. The space, located in the beating heart of the Durini district, opened its doors during the most iconic week for design, welcoming the international public and recounting, with light and style, the company’s evolution and innovative vision. With a double window overlooking via Borgogna and via Cerva, Martinelli Luce brings to the stage its eclectic, essential and geometric design, at the same time playful and avant-garde.

“After more than 70 years in the business, we felt the need to have ‘our own home in Milan’, the undisputed capital of design, a place where we can make our philosophy directly known, create new synergies and collaborations”, explained Emiliana Martinelli, president of Martinelli Luce. “This is not just an exhibition space for products, but for ideas, meetings and projects that reflect our spirit of continuous innovation”.

Martinelli Luce’s new showroom was designed by Emiliana Martinelli and Dainelli Studio – founded by Leonardo and Marzia Dainelli and specialised in the design of public and private spaces – as “an essential space that would act as a blank canvas for the aesthetic and formal experiments that Martinelli Luce has been proposing for more than seventy years”, in the words of Marzia Dainelli.

An ethereal total white setting welcomes Martinelli Luce creations in a 200 square metre space distributed on two levels. Here light is the absolute protagonist, free to refract and dialogue with the volumes, in an environment that is four metres high on the street level. The contrast between the warm white of the walls and displays and the deep shades of charcoal black – from the striped back wall to the staircase, up to the carpet and the long movable table – creates a refined and enveloping visual effect.

On the lower level, the chromatic narrative continues among geometries and volumes that transform into seats and display niches, giving shape to a dynamic and welcoming space. Not just a gallery of light, therefore, but a true meeting place: an environment designed to inspire, dialogue and share visions on design. Accompanying this cultural liveliness, Martinelli Luce collections give rhythm to the environment among novelties and icons.
