The shape of technology

The new capsule collection designed by Elena Salmistraro transforms Signature Kitchen Suite appliances into retro-pop style accessories

The household appliance becomes a ground for creative experimentation. Signature Kitchen Suite redefines its design with a perfect fusion of technology and art, creating a new aesthetic language. Thanks to this original concept, the brand transforms its products into true pieces of furniture that transcend the confines of the kitchen to integrate with functionality in the various rooms of the home, from the living room to the bedroom, and even in public spaces such as design hotels and state-of-the-art offices. Mantle was a forerunner of this ideal: the modular, free-standing cabinet designed by Patricia Urquiola, with sculptural appeal thanks to its Cimento tile cladding, conceived as a perfect complement to the undercounter convertible refrigerator of Signature Kitchen Suite.

The project now evolves with Dual Code, the new, colourful capsule collection designed by Elena Salmistraro. Two brand new graphics with the designer’s characteristic retro-pop style cover the custom-made cabinets of the under-shelf wine cellar and the under-shelf convertible refrigerator: Supernova and Vector, available in three captivating colour variants, become vibrant canvases for high-tech objects, combining aesthetics and innovation.

Supernova reworks the bold aesthetics of the 1980s in a contemporary key: iconic shapes, intense colours and graphic details evoke an explosion of creativity, recalling the experimental atmosphere of the era. Vector, on the other hand, explores the concept of lines and signs as graphic paths, a composition in which straight lines intertwine and overlap, creating a hypnotic and dynamic play that evokes movement combined with the elegance of simplicity.

The graphics of Dual Code are created using Abet Digital, the very high-definition digital printing technique from Abet Laminati that allows laminate surfaces to be customised with the utmost imagination. They give new appeal to the elegant and compact undercounter wine cellar, characterised by a capacity of 41 bottles and two zones separately adjustable for temperature and humidity; and the undercounter convertible refrigerator, composed of two drawers, the upper one with five temperature modes (from -3°C to 10°C), the lower one convertible into a freezer and with six temperature modes (from -23°C to 10°C).

The Dual Code capsule collection will make its debut at Milan Design Week, as part of ‘The Essential Touch’ installation in the Signature Kitchen Suite showroom, completely renovated for the occasion. Alongside the brand’s hyper-technological solutions, a culinary programme will be staged focusing on ingredients in their most essential form, preserved and prepared through Signature Kitchen Suite appliances. A tribute to its guiding philosophy, ‘True to Food’.
