Nalu: the incessant movement of nature

Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba design a new outdoor collection for Talenti that celebrates nature and its elements

Talenti‘s new Nalu collection encapsulates the unceasing strength and vital energy of nature. It can be perceived in the lightness of its forms, the fluidity of its lines, and the color palette evocative of the en plein air landscape. Nalu was created to be the protagonist of outdoor environments with its familiar, discreet, simply elegant appeal, creating a continuous and playful interaction with natural elements. It lets the light and air pass through it, echoing the colors of the sea, stone, and earth. In Nalu, then, nature and design become one, transforming furniture into an experience that enhances the senses.

This identity already emerges from the name: designers Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba drew inspiration from Hawaiian culture, which has its roots precisely in the respect and exaltation of a widespread naturalness. “Nalu” in the Hawaiian language, in fact, means ”wave.”

The creative duo reproduced this fluidity and the soft movement of the ocean in the design of the upholstered cushion, which folded in on itself, generating a pleasant aesthetic as well as functional effect. “We drew on what was the style of the masters of the golden years of Italian design,” Roberto Palomba confirms, “and that stems from the idea of a single cushion that folds up, generating the seat and back, like a sort of wave.

Roundness that hints at a more informal and less structured pleasure of being outdoors.” Indeed, Nalu accompanies every moment of outdoor living, be it a personal relaxation break or moments of shared conviviality, thanks to a multiplicity of elements that dialogue with each other, but also integrate perfectly with the brand’s other collections. Seats, sofas, tables, and sunbeds, and again, tailor-made integrative elements, such as accessories, rugs, vases, and fabrics made ad hoc, which amplify the pleasure of spending time in nature through a coordinated lifestyle that is refined in detail.

Color acts as a trait d’union between the many elements of the line: red to deep blue, the more versatile warm white and graphite, allowing endless combinations and reviving the combination of the mosaic effect of the tables and the vertical lines of the upholstery, structure or carpet, in perfect synchrony.

From shapes to colors, attention to nature also passes through materials: the structure is made of 100 percent aluminum, the quintessential symbol of lightness, strength, and endless recyclability. Thus Nalu pays homage to the natural world and the landscape in which it is inserted, in a continuous evolution of design and style. The palette emerges expertly treated in the ceramic workings of the coffee tables, made like geometric puzzles in the ceramic stoneware tops, highlighting the craftsmanship of the collection.
