Italian elegance in Macau

The Palazzo Versace Hotel, adorned with Fantini mosaics, celebrates Gianni Versace’s legacy and is the first in the region designed by a fashion house

The opening of the Palazzo Versace Hotel in Macau pays homage to Gianni Versace‘s legacy, bringing the number of Versace-branded hotels worldwide to three, after those in Australia and the United Arab Emirates. Located in the heart of the Grand Lisboa Palace in Macau, China, this luxury hotel marks a first in the region as the first to be entirely designed by a fashion house.

The hotel, a 20-story tower with 270 rooms and suites, represents a perfect blend of Italian craftsmanship and high-end hospitality design. Designed under the supervision of Donatella Versace, the Palazzo exudes authentic Italian style, with over six million mosaic tiles cut and laid by hand by the experts at Fantini Mosaici of Milan.

Every corner of the establishment offers visitors the chance to admire the intricate mosaic surfaces by Fantini Mosaici, from the impressive mosaics decorating the lobby with Versace’s iconic Medusa, to the fabulous indoor and outdoor pools. These pools are true works of art, adorned with over three and a half million tiles depicting motifs inspired by Chinese culture, such as dragons and flowers.

The SPA at Palazzo Versace Macau stands out for its holistic approach to wellness and the serene atmosphere created by the delicate mosaics in soft shades of pink, white, and gray. Classically inspired decorations in golden and platinum hues transform the SPA experience into a haven of tranquility, far from the bustling city life. The interior design is complemented by the elegant Venetian-style terrace that adorns some of the restaurants, creating an intriguing contrast with the livelier, more colorful hotel spaces.

The collaboration between Fantini Mosaici and the Versace family has lasted over four decades, starting with Gianni Versace’s iconic Casa Casuarina in Miami. This partnership has given rise to magnificent projects around the world, from prestigious boutiques to the luxurious spaces of Palazzo Versace.

The entire structure pays tribute to Gianni Versace’s eternal passion for Greek mythology, with strategically placed elements to evoke the opulence and creative spirit that distinguishes the maison. An architectural masterpiece that highlights Fantini Mosaici’s ability to transform artistic vision into reality, celebrating the excellence of Italian craftsmanship.
