Preciosa Lighting shines at Dubai Design Week

At Downtown Design 2024, the renowned Czech lighting manufacturer captivates audiences with its cutting-edge installation Crystal Beat

Already celebrated at Milan Design Week, this dynamic display enchants with its unique blend of light and sound. The centerpiece of Preciosa’s presentation at Dubai Design Week is the Crystal Beat installation. This immersive experience transcends traditional lighting by harmonizing dynamic illumination with rhythmic music. Each handblown crystal “pixel” responds to the beats, creating a mesmerizing dance of lights. This symphony of sound and visual art invites visitors to engage both emotionally and intellectually, offering a multi-sensory journey that is both nostalgic and futuristic.

Inspired by early video game graphics, Crystal Beat employs Unreal Engine technology to create breathtaking 3D lighting scenes. The installation aims to evoke spontaneous emotions, merging the retro charm of digital beginnings with a contemporary expression that resonates with today’s tech-savvy audience. Each suspended crystal tube serves not only as a light source but also as a portal to another era, bridging the nostalgia of the past with modern technology.

Preciosa is also unveiling Signature Designs – a collection of flexible, handcrafted lighting concepts. These sophisticated creations emphasize customizability and reflect the boldness of modern minimalism. The Signature Design Crystal Pixels combines grid structures and geometric shapes to showcase the profound impact of digital culture on interior design.

The Crystal Grid, another Signature design on display, captivates with its elegance, illuminating spaces with precision and clarity, symbolizing the grandeur of simplicity in our complex world. These concept installations highlight Preciosa’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression in lighting design.

The dynamism of the Crystal Beat installation is amplified through its music, crafted by renowned sound designer Juraj Mravec. His curated 45-minute playlist perfectly complements the light show, enhancing the visitors’ sensory journey. As Michael Vasku, Co-Creative Director at Preciosa Lighting, explains, “Crystal Beat responds to the cultural pulse, merging futuristic vision with nostalgic echoes of the past.”

Collaborating with co-creative director Andreas Klug, the Preciosa team has transformed lighting design into an art form of the highest order. Their work at Dubai Design Week exists not just to illuminate spaces but to evoke memories and dreams, encouraging visitors to reflect on the intertwined relationship between light, sound, and human experience.

As visitors step into Preciosa’s installation, they leave the bustling world behind and enter a realm of infinite possibilities, guided by the breathtaking interplay of light and sound. This immersive excursion, set in a darkened interior, transports participants to the early days of digital interaction while simultaneously catapulting them toward a promising techno-future. Through Crystal Beat and its accompanying designs, Preciosa continues to reaffirm its position as a visionary leader in the world of lighting, adeptly blending technological artistry with timeless craftsmanship a truly luminous legacy.
