Downtown Design 2024: hotspot for creativity

The most anticipated design fair in the Middle East is set to take center stage from November 6-9 as a key event during Dubai Design Week

The unpcoming edition of Downtown Design will host a remarkable array of international and regional design talents. Among the anticipated highlights is the debut of Editions, the region’s first fair dedicated to limited-edition art and design, offering a platform to over 50 galleries, design studios, and collectives. This addition will present contemporary works spanning photography, ceramics, and paper, appealing to collectors with diverse interests.

Complementing Downtown Design’s exhibitors are creative installations, including a large-scale floral piece by Linda Nieuwstad, crafted from recycled materials, and an earthen pavilion that explores sustainable architectural techniques.

The fair will also witness the UAE Designer Exhibition 5.0, curated by Omar Al Gurg. Here, 30 designers will present innovative objects that foster comfort and function. This exhibition reflects ongoing efforts to inspire meaningful connections between people and their environment through thoughtful design.

Attendees can look forward to Poltrona Frau’s collaborations with noted designers like Faye Toogood, alongside seeing B&B Italia’s iconic indoor and outdoor pieces. The Conran Shop will make its official UAE debut, while emerging brands like Jacopo Foggini and Hands Carpets introduce their latest collections.

The Forum, a key segment of the fair, will offer a platform for designers and thought leaders, featuring talks from renowned figures such as India Mahdavi, who will discuss multicultural design and its influences on contemporary spaces.

The event’s commitment to creativity and sustainability is further underscored by the Tanween Design Programme, offering innovative insights into the future of design. This year’s event will also include special exhibitions from designed pavilions such as the Italian Trade Agency and the Saudi Ministry of Culture, showcasing the diversity of global design.
