The world of furniture production is going through a sort of metamorphosis, where the markets of reference are changing, often along with the approach to design. This can be seen in the great expansion of the outdoor sector, once the province only of specialized companies, but now a part of the catalogues of the most important brands, also driven by a new focus on the world of yachting.
This is the scenario explored by interzum, an event with an accent on excellence in the world of suppliers to the furniture industry, organized by Koelnmesse GmbH: an appointment that aims to foster contacts between industries, producers of materials and technologies for decorators, designers and contractors. A way of observing design from “upstream.”
Today interzum adds a new biennial facet to its global constellation of fairs: after Guangzhou and Bogotá, in fact, comes the debut on 6-7 June at the fair-convention center of Bergamo, at the crossroads of Italian furniture and design districts. While interzum cologne is held during odd-numbered years, interzum forum italy will be held on even ones.
“It is important to emphasize that interzum forum italy is a project that responds to the needs of this historical moment, when companies are focusing on concentrated events, of short duration and great efficacy,” says Thomas Rosolia, CEO of Koelnmesse Italia. “Today the two halls of the fair are almost sold out, and we continue to receive new applications, even as the event approaches. We hope to reach the level of 200 exhibitors from all over the world in the segments of Functions & Components, Materials & Nature, Textiles & Machinery.”
Two days during which you can meet the players in this sector, exploring very timely themes: trends, new technical solutions and technologies, new materials, products and processes for low environmental impact, digitalization for production and services. In addition, interzum forum italy provides a matrix of topics and formats to respond to all the requirements of the sectors involved, addressed by outstanding international speakers.
The two-day program includes encounters and other activities: Talks, Trend Stages, Product Stages, Matchmaking and special events areas. This range is one of the strong points of the fair, shaped to cover all the subcontracting sectors – materials, components, coverings, claddings, lighting systems, upholstered furnishings, machinery and equipment for the production of furniture, padding and textiles – and to respond to a range of different audiences: companies and professionals in the sectors of furnishings and design, producers of materials and technologies for décor, general contractors, design studios, product and interior designers.
The exhibitors will be able to submit their products and services for the interzum forum italy award, assigned by a jury of international experts on the environment, technological innovation and trend setting. There are six awards in all, subdivided in the categories of Innovation and ESG & Sustainability, in relation to the three theme areas of the event: Functions & Components, Materials & Nature and Textiles & Machinery.
The members of the jury for the award are: Jessica Alexander, former executive director, National Bed Federation; Sezgin Aksu, designer; Mario Bisson, associate professor at POLI.design; Franco Bulian, director of Catas; Sasha Peters, innovation consultant and materials expert; Dick Spierenburg, designer.
