Mental journeys

Simone Guidarelli, an all-round creative mind, showcases 'Souvenirs de Voyage', a project combining wall décor, lighting and furniture at Milan Design Week

Oriental motifs, renaissance fountains, herons, giraffes and ostriches combine in a kaleidoscope of colourful images: these are the new Souvenirs de Voyage wallpapers created by Simone Guidarelli, an eclectic creative figure at ease in several fields, from fashion to design. Exclusively produced by Officinarkitectura and handmade in the Eco version in cellulose and PVC free, with super bright colours despite the opaque rendering, they are ideally inspired by the postcards, souvenir photos and plates of the 1970s. The idea is that of a journey through memories and thoughts, as when observing the panorama from a train window.

The space, set up at Superstudio Più – one of the epicentres of Zona Tortona – and designed by Studio Sapiens Design, is furnished thanks to two carefully chosen partners: Domenico Cugliari Italia, a furniture company that makes luxury furniture that combines Italian craftsmanship and a modern spirit (chairs, a table and a crystal cabinet will be presented for the installation); and Melogranoblu, a company specialising in interior lighting, which has created a hand-blown, metallised glass chandelier that makes light a highly scenic element.

Guidarelli’s creativity is also to be found at Illulian, which has transformed its Exotic White Jungle pattern into a carpet (in the Illulian Limited Edition collection), combining tropical exoticism and idyllic atmosphere. A hand-knotted Eden in wool and silk.
