Salotto in New York

Nine creative Italians have opened a space for ideas and experimentation in Brooklyn. And it is also a space for socializing. To promote a concept of contemporary “Italian excellence” that shuns all stereotypes

“The place to be” might be the slogan of Salotto NYC, the new hub founded by nine Italian talents residing in New York, with a focus on different expressions of creativity. A structure where design, graphics, video, film, illustration and the digital dimension coexist in perfect synergy.

Salotto NYC is a loft in Brooklyn (84 Withers St. – salotto.nyc) recently opened. It is not just a co-working facility that produces imagination, projects and tangible visions, but also a place of research and cultural gathering around which to organize events, through the unconventional perspective of the co-founders: Gabriele Rossi (Accurat), Gabriel Zangari (Design Group Italia), Vittorio Perotti (YOHOHO Studio), Alfredo Chiarappa (filmmaker), Lorenzo Fanton (graphic designer), Emiliano Ponzi (illustrator), Marco Rosella (animator), Fabio Tridenti (art director), Giulia Zoavo (graphic designer). This is all possible also thanks to Flou, a partner that from the outset has grasped the essence of this initiative, decorating the living area with sofas, armchairs, coffee tables and floor lamps, in a situation of convivial informality.

Inspired by the cultural salons of the past and created with the idea of representing Italian excellence in the States, Salotto is the place in New York where Alessandro Cattelan has presented his publishing house, Luca Ravenna a comedy show, and Pulitzer winner Jhumpa Lahiri has unveiled her latest book. Corraini has produced an exhibition on Steven Guarnaccia… anything can happen, including a trip to Salone del Mobile 2024.Milan, for the opening of the installation Under the Surface created by Emiliano Ponzi, Accurat and Design Group Italia.

“We are a group of Italian artists, designers and independent studios,” the group reports, “and in Brooklyn we share a space and a mission: to create synergies, innovative projects and pioneering events, rooted in the tradition of Italian excellence but projected into the future, sustained by the power of collective action.” To bring together multiple voices and gazes.
