Magical icon

The inimitable Vanity Fair XC, a true manifesto of Poltrona Frau, dresses up in the dreamy imagery of the world of Fornasetti

On 10 April, at the flagship store of Poltrona Frau in Milan, during Milano Design Week, the presentation of the new version of the famous Vanity Fair XC armchair, in a collaboration between two pinnacles of Italian craftsmanship and creativity: Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti.

Available in an edition of just 50 pieces, the chair designed in 1930 by Renzo Frau, founder of the company, has been dressed up with the dreamy images created by Piero Fornasetti in the 1950s, interpreted in a contemporary tone by Piero’s son, Barnaba Fornasetti – a sun and a moon rising from a vortex of clouds – digitally printed on Pelle Frau® Impact Less with a technique similar to silkscreen, giving the material a unique tactile sensation.

“Poltrona Frau is expanding its horizons in the field of lifestyle. In this outlook, there could be no better collaboration than the one with Fornasetti, especially for the launch of our Imagine Collection 2024. These are two of the most recognizable and historic Italian brands still active today; Fornasetti and Poltrona Frau represent the best of excellence Made in Italy,” says Nicola Coropulis, CEO of Poltrona Frau.

“The sun, with its face and stylized rays, is one of the themes my father reinterpreted in an almost obsessive way, making it become a true Fornasetti icon. When I sat down on the Vanity Fair armchair, I felt like I was on a cloud, and I began to daydream. It was a chance to return to my youth, head in the clouds, yet another example of ‘practical folly,’” says Barnaba Fornasetti, artistic director of the brand.

If you are impatient, it is possible to order this special edition in advance, exclusively at the e-shops of Poltrona Frau in the main European markets (www.poltronafrau.com). Starting on 10 April 2024, you can also order the item in selected stores around the world.
