Nanimarquina | Doblecara

The reversible Doblecara rug sanctions the deep-rooted collaboration between Ronan Bouroullec and Nanimarquina. The result of an artisanal process that combines the antique kilim technique with the modernity of the designs

The rustic appearance and irregularities of the wool should not be misleading. Because the Doblecara rung, designed by Ronan Bouroullec for Nanimarquina, is a concentration of refinement. The shapes are expressed through intermittent fine lines that terminate in a blurred point, creating a sense of movement in the eye of the observer.

For this effect the choice of technique was key: the hand weaving of the kilim combined with hand-knotting of the Persian to give strength and rhythm to the contemporary designs. Available in four sizes and three positive-negative colour combinations: black-ivory, ivory-black, ivory-red, ivory-ivory. Doblecara is a reversible rug that can be enjoyed on both sides: the ‘B’ side is more subtle and delicate while the ‘A’ side displays the linear design in its maximum expression. Uses only Afghan wool hand spun.
