Contardi: forms of light

Designed by Massimiliano Raggi for Contardi Lighting, the lamps in the Fly collection combine the beauty of form and function

Fly is a collection of lamps with a wide range of versions, ready to respond to multiple design requirements. The many versions in the Fly collection designed by Massimiliano Raggi stand out for good looks and exceptional lighting quality, as in all the creations of Contardi Lighting. “I have a professional relationship with Contardi that is also a friendship, which has lasted for over 15 years,” says the designer. “I have grown together with this brand, monitoring its development and bringing out its archi-decorative aesthetic code, bringing it gradually closer to the universe of contemporary lighting design, where the extension of the Fly Collection represents my contribution to the new collections in 2023.” The distinctive feature of the Fly family is its design, which is both simple and sophisticated. Combined with research on refined finishes, like gilded satin nickel, brushed bronze-nickel and anthracite, Fly Long, Fly Floor, Fly Torch, Fly ap Remote, Fly Multiple are suitable for residential spaces, retail facilities, museums and hospitality structures. Fly Outdoor, with its finishes in lacquered bronze and black lacquer, is ideal for use in the open air.

The floor lamps can be positioned to provide optimal lighting. The Fly collection offers three floor versions: Long, the tallest (245 cm), Floor, the smallest (190 cm), and Torch, which provides ambient lighting thanks to emission from the vertical rear part of the section, and a luminous disk placed in the upper part. For all the versions, the brightness levels and effects can be regulated with the positioning and angle of the lamp with respect to the ground. Fly Long is the model with the strongest visual identity: its height is striking, adding a forceful graphic sign to any space. Through a process of subtraction, the luminous body vanishes when it is turned on, revealing only the presence of light, ready for dimming through the dual switch placed on the double-face profile, permitting precise and sophisticated spatial luminosity. Fly Floor, the smaller version of Fly Long, has a height of 190 cm, making it suitable for spaces with lower heights. Fly Torch, finally, emits light from both parts, and can be dimmed to create zones of comfort and relaxation. Utilized at its highest setting, it can light large settings with ease.

While the ceiling lamps provide direct lighting from above, the wall lamps can be applied to accentuate particular areas of a room or a space, supplying a discreet glow that works well to highlight particular elements. With subtle, delicate brightness, the appliques of Contardi Lighting can be deployed to accent a wide range of situations. Ideal for both public and private spaces,

Fly ap Remote stands out for its remote transformer. Thanks to the dual light emission – direct and indirect – it allows the user to create evocative beams of light. The lamp is completed by the “veil” accessory, for delicate shading of the light source thanks to a textile diffuser in white in cotton or fabric with a Calacatta marble effect.

A suspension lamp that interacts with architecture, Fly Multipla reiterates the essential module of the family, boosting its decorative impact. The possibility of adjustment and positioning of the arms, combined with dual light emission (upper and lower), permits creation of various compositions, spreading intense direct or ambient light.

Fly Outdoor is the model that takes the Fly range into the open air, ensuring high standards of performance and quality. The lamp embodies the outdoor philosophy of Contardi, taking the high manufacturing quality and decorative impact of the products outside, while conserving their elegance and aesthetic allure.
