A company that combines an industrial dimension with a focus on craftsmanship in the production of beds, Bolzan has created a new position, assigned to Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto. As design curators, the Veneto-based duo will oversee the complete range of products, developing briefs for new projects and selecting other designers with whom to create a synergy for the development of new collections, as well as the selection and restyling of products already in the catalogue. They will also focus on research on materials and the recovery of crafts techniques, drawing on and updating the tradition from a contemporary perspective. The appointment is the natural evolution of a positive collaboration, which for the company has coincided with the beginning of an orientation towards design.
“With Giorgia and Daniele there has been a meeting of sensibilities,” says Elisabetta Bolzan, CEO of Bolzan. “We share the same values, and in their work we see affinities with the approach of Bolzan, which in its catalogue narrates the territory and brings out its cases of excellence. Their expertise and experience will undoubtedly be very helpful for us to continue to innovate and to grow.”
The vision of the Zanellato/Bortotto studio takes the initial visible form of a new set-up of the BolzanSpace on Via Mercato in Milan. The space, presented in April during Milano Design Week, has been reinterpreted to put the emphasis on Bolzan’s collections of beds and complements.
In terms of finishes, the studio has opted for colored and shaded clay walls by Matteo Brioni, for a tactile effect; a soft carpet in Econyl recycled yarn covers the floor in the showroom, while on the loft the flooring is in certified wood, featuring natural colors applied by hand with the age-old technique known as stracciatura.
