Good design, on stage

In a historic church in Milan, a group show of young Italian design talents, putting the spotlight on objects and materials

Bruno Munari said that “when everything is art, nothing is Art.” This is the situation that is arising today in the world of design, where if we put the words “design products” into a search engine we get 6,770,000,000 results. An avalanche that is impossible to explore. These thoughts form the starting point of the exhibition Fatto bene (church of San Celso, 1-8 October, free of charge), curated by Teo Sandigliano with exhibit design by Flatwig Studio (Erica Agogliati and Francesca Avian).

The exhibition draws attention to objects, the physicality of design and the beauty of materials, through the creations of a group of designers operating in the professional world, who demonstrate constant passion and everyday commitment, qualities that emerge with force in their works.

The objective is to reveal the wonder of design in its many forms. Choosing not to display prototypes but only real products, ready for sale. The projects are collaborations with companies, self-produced items, limited editions, experiments that share the characteristic of being authentic products that speak for themselves.

Not just the poetry of details, the sensation of perfection of forms, the harmony between aesthetics and function: Fatto bene returns to the roots of design, namely the sublimation of an abstract idea in a physical object that goes beyond simple functional concerns. It is the ability to transform a set of elements into something that seems to have always existed, just as it is.

Without knowing it, we grow fond of a fruit tray, a lamp, a coffee table, a seat, a sideboard, and they become part of our identity. Like members of the family, protected like precious jewels, cared for in all possible ways. Simple products that bring meaning into our spaces and our lives.
