Dimorestudio effect

Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran's studio collaborated with Sotheby's Paris for the 'Provenances' online auction

To celebrate Dimorestudio‘s 20th anniversary, Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci presented a series of design objects signed by their studio and other famous Italian designers at a Sotheby’s Parigi auction. Not just a solo auction, but a choral project with two other important artistic worlds that perfectly meet the taste and aesthetics of the Milanese architecture and interior design studio: the oceanic art from the collection of Marc de Monbrison and the photographic art of Robert Mapplethorpe and Nan Goldin.

“In such an important year for Dimorestudio”, say Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, “collaborating with one of the most prestigious auction houses in the world such as Sotheby’s seemed to us another important step to celebrate 20 years of our studio”.

The city of Paris itself has consecrated the work of Dimorestudio: a place that inspired Salci and Moran and continues to do so, with its bohemian mood, refined and aristocratic at the same time, where the contemporary dialogues with the classic, different eras that coexist perfectly. In an interplay of stratifications and infiltrations of time, the approach of Dimorestudio is precisely to create a dialogue between cultures and eras, different styles to always re-create a traveler’s room.

For the sale, the Milanese studio has selected from its archive some of the most representative items of Dimoremilano – the own furniture brand founded in 2019 – and some historical design pieces, mixing objects of memory that have a vintage, lived flavour together with contemporary products in a fluid dialogue.

The Milanese duo also signed the set design of the installation presented in the splendid Parisian spaces of the auction house on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The studio imagined a housing situation with a strong narrative, recalling the world of cinema.

Two interior environments: one with warm colors, passionate reds, burgundy, ocher, gold and light pinks, that all represent the heritage and the signature of the two founders; the other by contrast is cold, hard, dry, with shades of whites, blacks and grays. Two captivating and scenographic sets, where the selection of lots represents the essential “must haves” for Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, including some iconic furnishings by Osvaldo Borsani and Gio Ponti or the eye-catchingPalmador desk by Dimoremilano with its bright, pastel, contrasting colors.
