Brands are increasingly bent upon updating their model of production in a perspective of social responsibility and environmental protection. Starting with this background, Visionnaire has done much more, formulating a concept of meta-luxury in which beauty and know-how translate into a luxury that implies aware use of materials – leathers to wood, marble varieties to foams – as well as an emphasis on positive values. A Benefit Company since December 2021, Visionnaire combines its technological research with boosted efficiency in the chain of production, offering premium furnishings devoted to low environmental impact.

It all begins with research on materials, including the selection of innovative fabrics and leathers in the Re-Generation project, where the substances have low environmental impact and are traceable through every phase of product life. The results can be seen in Paddington, an eco-fur obtained from recycled and recyclable PET, presented on the Shibari chairs by Studiopepe, or the Eco-skins (regenerated from waste reduced to powder and recomposited to reach a thickness of 2mm). Another case in point is Living, made with a process of metal-free and biodegradable tanning, selected to cover the Egoiste chaise longue by Alessandro La Spada.

Not just coverings, but also internal parts are painstakingly developed, as in the case of the work on new foams obtained from a special polyol, synthesized using carbon dioxide which is then returned to the production cycle, reducing the use of fossil substances such as petroleum. Characterized by breathability and low levels of permanent deformation, these substances are now part of one of the brand’s iconic seating products, the Ca’ Foscari sofa by Alessandro La Spada.

The same process of advanced research has been applied to preserve the use of wood. Starting this year, Visionnaire presents a selection of products made with certified wood, obtaining FSCTM C147146 Forest Stewardship Council and PEFC Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification. These wood varieties can be seen in the Aurora console, the Ruben table and the Jet Plane mirror by Steve Leung. All the way to the use of Fossil Stone – an age-old wood from underwater forests and protected under layers of clay that nature has been able to preserve for centuries – utilized for creations like the Drusilla low sideboard (designed by Fabio Bonfà) and the dramatic Villa D’Este foodroom (designed by Mauro Lipparini). In Villa D’Este, the unique peculiarities of this material are amplified through the large kitchen composition that celebrates the aggregative dimension of living: the infinite, ever-changing hues that characterize fossil wood are combined with the multiple veins of antique wavy Calacatta marble. For a result of refined elegance and sensory materiality.

Finally, the different varieties of marble, always a synonym for luxury and elegance, come alive with a new accent on sustainability. Workmanship is the key factor, along with the intrinsic properties of the material itself. For the Kerwan dining table designed by Alessandro La Spada the marble legs have been obtained from a single slab, while for the Cameron table, again by La Spada, the base comes from the juxtaposition of two symmetrical blocks, avoiding any wasting of the material.
