A company specialising in the production of beds since 1989, Bolzan has its roots in Gaiarine, a small village halfway between Venice and the forests of the Belluno Pre-Alps. Over the last thirty years, Bolzan has gone through all the typologies that have characterised this production sector – from the round bed to the canopy bed, up to the many proposals of integrated headboards – and this year it has opened its first showroom in Milan, in Via Mercato 3.

Inaugurated during the Salone del Mobile, with the dreamlike installation Dreams in progress designed by Zanellato/Bortotto, the new showroom has soft padded walls recall the company’s craftsmanship: designer beds, carefully made with quality. The immersive, site-specific installation underlines the first phase of the company’s work on this new space, in which it will display its new collections focusing on the themes of environmental responsibility, research and collaboration.

«The theme Dreams in Progress is the starting point for this exhibition,» explain Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto. «The concept revolves around a kind of textile construction site, as if to indicate the laying of the foundation stone for what will be the company showroom soon to come into being in the next few months.»

In the space at Via Mercato 3, Bolzan’s vocation for the environment finds its full and creative representation, enhanced by compositions made from textile scraps and furniture upholstery. On the ground floor of Bolzan’s new Milanese space are the Jack-e and Bend-e beds by Zanellato/Bortotto, recent examples of sustainable design made with the contribution of a quality local supply chain. Also, Federico Angi’s Onimod family of occasional tables and bedside tables, a tribute to Le Corbusier‘s design philosophy that becomes versatile furniture for the home. On the upper floor, Chocolate by Alessandro Stabile, the hyper-versatile daybed that can transform from a bed into a sofa, bench or chaise longue, defining a further level of multifunctionality in contemporary living, is on show.
