Arclinea and its sustainable commitment

Presented in the Milan showroom during Design Week, the new g_cover finish amplifies Arclinea's quest to use responsible raw materials

At Milan Design Week Arclinea presented not only a new product, but a veritable manifesto of its ethical approach to design. With the ‘Drawing Better Connections‘ project, the company is officially committed to “drawing better connections – with food, family and nature as a way to
a more symbiotic and responsible evolution’. A founding concept of its corporate philosophy, right from the very beginning of kitchen production, which coincides with the birth of Arclinea in 1960.
In the product concept this ideal is translated into a commitment to sustainability, to minimising environmental impact through the creation of durable, high quality solutions, but also to the use of increasingly responsible raw materials.

Protagonist inside the showroom in via Durini, Milan, is therefore g_cover by Alisea Recycled and Reused Objects Design (a B Corp certified company, founded in 1994 by Susanna Martucci, dedicated to the creation of circular supply chains to produce innovative design objects. This is a new and innovative finish for wooden kitchen panels, characterised by a unique grey tone, given by graphite powder – a by-product of electrode production – recovered and recycled. This coating not only allows the company to contribute to the recycling of a valuable mineral – otherwise wasted in landfills – but also improves the durability of the kitchens, as g_cover protects the wood from light and signs of wear and tear. Graphite, moreover, is a non-toxic mineral and is recovered and recycled in Italy through traceable supply chains that generate social and environmental value for each actor involved.
