Scic Italia acquires Schiffini

The historic Parma-based brand continues its strategic focus on Italian design. The goal: optimising synergies to meet new market challenges

Two historic brands join forces: Scic Italia, the producer of design kitchens founded in 1948, acquires Schiffini, the company from Liguria with nearly one century of experience.

“Regenerating the Schiffini brand on the market represents a great challenge and a major privilege,” says Lorenzo Marconi Fornari, CEO of Scic Italia. “Schiffini is not just a brand, but a piece of history of Italian design, at home and around the world. It was a great inspiration for our founder, Renzo Fornari, and remains a reference point for anyone working in our sector, with a historical perspective.”

Schiffini was founded by Enrico Schiffini halfway through the 1920s to produce wooden furniture for the ships built at the shipyards of La Spezia. Starting in the 1950s, the company shifted its focus to design kitchens.

Thanks to the first modular kitchens put into production, designed by Vico Magistretti, the company gained national and international acclaim as a creator of prestigious kitchen settings that stand out for quality construction and careful selection of materials, with innovative functions and solutions. Over the years the firm has worked with outstanding designers: Jasper Morrison, Alfredo Häberli, Alfonso Arosio, Giuliano Giaroli, Gitta Gschwendtner, Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba.

Schiffini is now part of Scic Italia, whose mission is to design kitchen furnishings with timely solutions and functional excellence. For Scic, innovation is the key in the conception of kitchen furnishings, translating into three areas: design, technology and quality.
