In eighteenth-century Florence there lived a cultured and curious man, passionate about science and alchemy: he was Marquis Carlo Ginori, descendant of a family that had been rich and powerful for centuries. It was 1735 when he decided to set up a workshop for the production of ceramics, majolica and porcelain in a building adjacent to the villa he had recently purchased.
It was the birth of one of Europe’s most prestigious manufactures, which still today carries on a story of excellence and creativity that has never known a break and that over time has intertwined its history with those of prominent figures such as Gio Ponti, the brilliant (re)inventor of Italian design, who was its artistic director from 1923 to 1933.

Produced in collaboration with expert craftsmen and high-ranking partners such as Barovier&Toso and Rubelli, Domus is the translation of the idea of style and refinement suggested by a material, porcelain, into an entire lifestyle.

The collection is the brainchild of designer Luca Nichetto and represents a fusion of contemporary style, traditional craftsmanship and the highest quality materials. A totally made in Italy collection where the artistic workmanship enhances the value of the product by highlighting its uniqueness and exclusivity. Domus is composed of furniture (the LaVenus lounge chair, the Dulcis pouf and swivel armchair, the Latour freestanding shelf and the Optique family of occasional tables), lamps made in collaboration with Barovier&Toso (Conterie, floor lamp; Sideris, reading lamp; Trinitas, portable and rechargeable lamp) and fabrics inspired by the famous Manifattura decorations and created together with Rubelli: Oriente Italiano and Ondori, inspired by two famous icon-decors, Sagitta (a tribute to Ponti’s style) and Saia, which recalls the shaded colouring techniques typical of the Manifattura. It is a new, unprecedented link with the present of Ginori 1735, part of the Kering Group since 2013. A history of style that spans time. And which today speaks to us with a new voice
