Superstudio Show. Inspiration, Innovation, Immagination

On the 40th anniversary of Superstudio, an exhibition with a strong international dimension and projected towards the future of new digital languages will be staged in the Tortona district

With the programmatic title Inspiration, Innovation, Imagination, Gisella Borioli, founder and director of Superstudio, and Giulio Cappellini, as artistic director, have given shape to Superdesign Show 2023, an authorial format that focuses on research, building bridges between different weights and cultures and looking to the future by probing the boundary marked by Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, the Metaverse, and ChatBots to ask how spaces and architecture, homes and cities, and design will evolve as a result.

Design Thailand by DITP

Among the main exhibitions, the observatory on Asian presences is consolidated with the exhibition Asian R-Evolution, in which the countries of the East and Far-East will be present with concrete proposals for real and sustainable housing, grafting tradition into modernity. In addition to participations from China, Jakarta and Japan, Thailand will be represented by Slowhand Design Thailand by DITP, with a group exhibition of materials from local manufacturers, while from Korea will come the Seoul Design Foundation.

Samsung Eletronics

This year, we will experience the smart homethanks to the interactive space dedicated to household appliances set up by Samsung Electronics, while Lexus will present a reflection on the automotive of the future, electric of course, with Shaped by Air by architect Suchi Reddy, as well as presenting the prototypes created by the winners of the Lexus Design Award 2023. Also returning will be Materially, which, like every year, deepens its research into eco-sustainable and recycled materials and this year does so by evoking the concept of wonder in an interactive installation.

Giulio Cappellini, in the role of talent-scout that befits him so well, is the curator of the group exhibition Stars of Today, which presents ten new protagonists of contemporary design: Leonardo Talarico, Elena Salmistraro, Francesca Lanzavecchia, Ilaria Marelli, Matteo Agati, Sergio Prieto, Daniel Nikolovski, Francesco Forcellini, Antonio Facco and Keiji Takeuchi.

Bottos Design Italia by Sebastiano Botto

Third Floor Collective

Unexpected Objects, on the other hand, is an exhibition that developed the theme of surprise and non-banality through a selection of projects by designers who worked with artists, and artists who acted as designers. Not forgetting the designers who have taken their research to the limits of the known, results evident in the ceramics of Pollini Home, the screens of Bottos Design Italia by Sebastiano Bottos, the porcelain of Daamstudio’s Iconoclastic project and the techno-creatives of Unuslab and Fluente with Terre evolute.

The Tortona district is going all out for Design Week. In addition to Superstudio, in fact, events will be concentrated in three other important locations: Base, Tortona Design Week and Tortona Rocks.
