Four billion dollars, in the heart of Downtown Miami, for a complex with 351 hotel rooms, 4 meeting rooms, a rooftop pool, indoor and outdoor fitness facilities, a refreshment point open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With the imminent prospect of expansion with commercial spaces, residences and a convention center. This is the gigantic new citizenM Miami Worldcenter, covering 10 city blocks, recently opened by the pioneer of affordable luxury and hospitality. To be precise, this is the second such venture, after Miami Brickell in July 2022, and the 30th in the world, for a company with a rapidly growing portfolio.

The design concept of the entire mega-complex has been assigned to a long-term partner, the Dutch firm Concrete, and carried out by the Miami team of Gensler. The concrete structure and the design take their cue from life on the sea on a cruise ship, such as those seen in large numbers at the port in Miami. The horizontal lines of the façade and the stepped roof intentionally suggest the decks of a boat. The vibrant colors utilized everywhere link up with the Art Deco buildings that have made Miami Beach famous.

The roof is the true strong point of the hotel, with a pool and a bar in cabana-and-palm style, offering a great view of the skyscrapers in the center of the city, and the bay. Art has a place of honor in the overall project, since citizenM makes a commitment to support local artists at all of its locations. The works arrive thanks to an open art call organized last year by citizenM, inviting artists of all levels to take part, with creations that express a personal bond with the city.

The façade displays a series of sculptures created by FriendsWithYou, the group formed through the artistic partnership between Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III, acquired at the Mindy Soloman Gallery in Miami. The interior and the roof host important pieces, including Never Forget by Daniel van Straalen, #KumbaCentralMarket by Ajarb Bernard Ategwa, and Superstring Variation by Christian Ruiz Berman.

The guestrooms also feature works by important and rising local artists, like Amauro Torezan, Arianna Leon Uberti, Courtney Einhorn. The private rooms offer maximum comfort for guests. Each one has an XL king-size bed, luxury linens, a widescreen HD television and functions controlled with an iPad or by using the special citizenM app.
