Plaza: between private and public

From the collaboration between Horm and Marco Piva, comes Plaza, a cross-disciplinary furniture collection designed to straddle domestic and public spaces

The Plaza collection recounts a metaphorical journey through European capitals, interpreting their most iconic urban squares, and consists of tables, chairs, cabinets, writing desks and consoles, designed not only for the most intimate domestic dimension, but also for dynamic reception spaces. «We met Marco Piva post Covid pandemic», recalls Fabio Melcarne, CEO of Horm, «when we were wondering in which direction consumer preferences would go in terms of furnishing the home and public spaces».

This issue, crucial for the production strategy, was nimbly resolved thanks to a discussion with the Marco Piva studio, which proposed to design a transversal furniture collection that would allow a strong contamination between these environments. «To feel a bit at home in a hotel lobby or during a friendly evening at a restaurant is the goal with which SMP designed the Plaza collection»

«When thinking about the Plaza Collection – says Marco Piva – it is clear how today, and in the future, interior design must redefine spaces by characterizing them as warm, emotional and intimate. Being comfortable in a place and sharing it is what makes it unique and special».
