Pedrali and Patrick Jouin, a 10-year history

The collaboration between the company and the designer reaches its first decade, a partnership that began with the Ester armchair and continued with a proliferation of projects and collections.

The first time is never forgotten. Ester marked the beginning of a long collaboration between its designer, Patrick Jouin, and the manufacturing company, Pedrali, a creative partnership that continues virtuously and promises to still yield countless surprises that move from the field of furniture design to hospitality interiors.

It was 2011 when Monica and Giuseppe Pedrali met Patrick Jouin in Rome, on the occasion of the awarding of the prestigious ADI Compasso d’Oro to the designer. “A short time later, we saw each other to start thinking about creating an upholstered, elegant and super comfortable seat for Alain Ducasse’s Dorchester restaurant in London. That was how Ester was born,” says Jouin. After two years of planning, the armchair made its debut in 2013: a monolith of leather, complemented by the refined die-cast aluminum leg, characterized by sinuous and soft shapes; comfort is guaranteed by the seat made of polyurethane foam with elastic straps guarantees.

Ten years of success have followed, testifying to the fact that Ester maintains a character as relevant today as it was at its origins. We find it-in its range of models from chair to armchair to stool-in some of star chef Alain Ducasse’s best-known restaurants, such as the BBR by Alain Ducasse at the historic Bar & Billiards Room of the iconic Raffles Hotel in Singapore, the Voyages by Alain Ducasse restaurant nestled in the heart of the imposing Morpheus Hotel in Macau, or the Mix by Alain Ducasse restaurant in the prestigious Emeral Palace Kempiski in Dubai.

The collaboration with Patrick Jouin has borne fruit over the years in other Pedrali house icons, such as the Elliot table collection, the Ila armchair, the Héra chair, the Social modular sofas, and the Reva sofa collection, which in the latest model in the “cocoon” version we will also find at the Salone del Mobile Milano.
