Close to the sea and nature

Technological innovation and unusual design solutions for a new lifestyle based on wellbeing and reduction of environmental impact on the water. The Seadeck series of yachts has been created by Azimut in collaboration with Alberto Mancini and Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez

Getting back to a more aware relationship with nature, not simply making it a central factor of onboard experience, but also protecting it in an active way. This is the mission of Azimut, a company whose fleet is composed by half of Low Emission Yachts. This result has been achieved across 20 years of research and implementation of sustainable innovation, now reaching its high point in the new Seadeck hybrid series.

Ahead of the target for limitation of CO2 emissions set by the International Marine Association (IMO) for 2030, the shipyard has arrived at this record by reducing emissions by 20-30%. The winning formula? The combination of technological innovation and stylistic/design creativity.

The process begins with onboard systems to reduce energy consumption, matched with Volvo Penta hybrid propulsion and solutions to reduce emissions. The hull is optimized for planing, while the carbon utilized for 40% of the surface and the batteries of the latest generation during anchorage offer zero emissions. These factors are all gathered in the 60-foot models, which permit – in one year of average use, cruising or at anchor, a reduction of up to 40% of CO2 emissions with respect to a traditional flybridge yacht of comparable size.

Design also does its part in the pursuit of close contact with nature. The innovative concept developed by Alberto Mancini, with its taut, dynamic lines, is joined by the ecological design of the interiors on the part of Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez, making their debut in this market segment. The design features a Fun Island: a totally open lounge at the stern, joined to the large onboard spaces.

The outdoors communicates naturally with the indoors, emphasizing the concept of openness and transparency, leading to a radical change in the interaction with the sea and the people in the water. It is an onboard environment reconfigured to offer new social interactions, with a sense of more participation and togetherness.

The designers have worked through subtraction to bring out the ‘heart’ of the spaces, facilitating wellbeing and redefining the concept of luxury, seen in terms of personal enjoyment and wellness. These tenets also apply to the choice of natural or recycled materials, such as cork, for example, which takes the place of teak, offering properties of resilience and tactile allure.

“Seadeck is a new starting point for future generations,” says Giovanna Vitelli, President of Gruppo Azimut|Benetti. “Once again, we want to set a course that can lead to inspirations for the entire industry, because the theme of respect for the environment can be interpreted in a concrete approach based on investments, technological research and the courage to introduce a new lifestyle that embraces the sea.” The first of the three models in the series, Seadeck 6, will be presented at Boot in Düsseldorf in 2024; it will be followed by Seadeck 7 and Seadeck 8, in 2024 and 2025.
