First glimpses of the Salone del Mobile 2023

A new overall display format, Euroluce with an updated fair experience, interdisciplinary cultural contents, repositioning of the SaloneSatellite. The first previews of the 61st iteration

Salone del Mobile.Milano is getting ready for its next edition, number 61, offering new fair experiences based directly on the requests of exhibitors and attendees. Over 2300 interviews were conducted, in fact, with visitors from around the world, making it possible to understand how to improve the event and its uses.

The results will already be visible from 18 to 23 April thanks to a fully augmented and expanded general format. But first of all, Euroluce is showcasing the possible future evolution of the Salone del Mobile.

The biennial on lighting will have an unprecedented exhibit system created by the Milan-based studio Lombardini22: reworking the concept of proximity of many historical centers in our country, the solution will feature a ring-shaped path with a polygonal geometric form, to optimize the use of the spaces. The strictly structural aspect will be joined by interdisciplinary and experiential cultural contents on various themes, from architecture to art, including exhibitions, talks, workshops, installations, all coordinated by Beppe Finessi, flanked by young curators as well as special guests such as contemporary artists. A fundamental contribution comes from Formafantasma, which in the new layout will transform Euroluce into an ideal city, designing public spaces and cameos.

“We like to imagine it as a dialogue between technology and poetry, architecture and design – says the president of Salone del Mobile.Milano, Maria Porro, referring to the “new Euroluce” – a source of inspiration and enrichment for visitors. In this perspective, it is interesting to see that a number of companies specialized in technical products have accepted the challenge to take part in the Salone.”

The SaloneSatellite will also have a new but natural location amidst the pavilions of Euroluce (Pav. 9-11 and 13-15), since it is a concrete representation of the future of design. The next edition will focus on Schools/Universities of Design with the theme: Design Schools: Building the (im)possible. Process, Progress, Practice.

The industry will be showing its wares in a spirit of confidence, based on the results of 2022: “The Furniture Macro-System (with sales amounting to 4.58 billion euros) has recorded a gain of +12.7% for the first nine months of 2022, a trend that in Italy has reached +14.7%, while exports were up by +11%. The forecast is to close out 2022 at +8.1%,” says Claudio Feltrin, president of FederlegnoArredo.
