Cassina: seeing things in perspective

A pioneering, free vision connects the art of the table to furnishings and accessories to decorate the home, once again outlining new horizons in the culture of living, even in their purchase method

The variegated and sophisticated universe of Cassina brings together craftsmanship, industry and memory, moving towards a new perspective. The Cassina Perspective is the philosophy of thinking that summarizes the past, present and future of the Italian company, which, since the 1950s, has altered the logic of contemporary design. Now that avant-garde vision has become part of an original journey that continues to interpret trends of everyday life through an eclectic range of offerings, in a fertile exchange between the most innovative creations and modern icons.

This is how Cassina Details was born, a collection that fully reflects the value of accessories and small furnishings in designing a space. Tablewareobjectsvasestextileslampsmirrors and rugs reveal the excellence of production thanks to the collaboration with artists and architects, and even other manufacturers.

Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand by Charlotte Perriand – Cassina iMaestri Collection with Ginori 1735

The relationship with Ginori 1735, for example, has generated a refined porcelain table service inspired by the photography of Charlotte Perriand. Decorated by hand, Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand features three different graphic motifs found in the photographs taken by the renowned architect in 1933 and 1934, where nature is the protagonist.

The contours of a patch of snow melting in the crevices of a stone floor, the rings of a felled tree trunk and a fishbone are the poetic images for a set that includes a service plate, a dinner plate, a bowl and a dessert plate, available in a set of two, with three different decorations that can be mixed and matched.

Traditional techniques for crafting glass in Murano have been interpreted in a contemporary way by Patricia Urquiola for the Sestiere vases. A tribute to Venice, through the combination of bright, contrasting colours, where a harness of grooved cords, a typical Venetian motif, wraps around a mouthblown glass vessel, workmanship that results in charmingly imperfect and unique pieces.

Cassina also offers fragrances for the home, with a collection of candles and room diffusors developed in collaboration with the historic Spanish candle maker Vila Hermanos, together with the French ‘nose’ Emmanuel Philip. The collection stands out for its evocative scents inspired from all over the world.

The new contemporary landscape of Cassina also includes Modular Imagination: a seat, a surface, an ottoman, a bench or a small table, in different compositions that are created by stacking two pieces at a time using a special joining module that permits them to interlock.

The result of the playful creative process of Virgil Abloh, who passed away prematurely after completing the project, Modular Imagination not only demonstrates the versatile potential of a modern home, but also the virtuous possibility of being able to dispose of its parts which can be easily separated at the end of the product’s life cycle.

All these items, together with the company’s most-loved icons, are now available through Cassina’s new online sales channel, together with its offline network. The e-commerce platform on the official cassina.com website is currently operative in Italy, France, Germany, Austria and Benelux.
