LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R: technology and design for an unprecedented object

A television that appears and vanishes thanks to a roll-up screen. A true sensorial revolution

The short film Hide and Seek by Francesca Molteni, which made its debut during the latest Salone del Mobile, is a story told with a light touch of elective affinities – style, manufacturing excellence – between two leading brands, LG SIGNATURE and Molteni&C. One of the scenes, shot in the refined spaces of the Molteni&C showroom, is devoted to the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R, the world’s first rollable television, a masterpiece of engineering and high-tech, winner of the CES Innovation Awards 2020 (Best of Innovation – Category: Video Displays) and the Wallpaper Design Awards 2021 (category: Best Bedtime).

The “R” of the new LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R stands for a Revolution in home entertainment and a Re-definition of space, through the ability to unroll and roll up again with the simple touch of a button.

The set has been designed to offer three usage options: Full View; Line View, in which the screen is partially rolled into the base, leaving only a horizontal portion exposed to offer access to various functions (clock, music, lights and atmospheric sounds, viewing of photographs); and finally Zero View, in which the screen is totally rolled into the base but leaves the possibility of audio playback through the Dolby Atmos 4.2 channel system, 100W with front-firing.

With a base in brushed aluminum to meet the needs of the most demanding interior designers, LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R responds to the widest range of technological expectations: 65 inches, 4K Ultra-HD resolution, OLED self-lit pixel technology for 100% chromatic accuracy (certified by the international agency Intertek) and maximum comfort for viewers, thanks to TÜV Rheinland certification for low emission of blue light, and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification for absence of flicker.

The product is also perfect for lovers of cinema, sports fans and gamers: the support for Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos®, HDR10 PRO and Filmmaker Mode™ allows films, TV series and documentaries to come to life through images and sounds of the highest quality, while the Sports Alert function updates fans on news about their favorite teams. Furthermore, the OLED Motion Pro function permits viewing with incredible clarity and fluidity, for every moment of the game.

Other amazing features: with the Bluetooth Surround Ready function the LG televisions can be connected in wireless mode to multiple Bluetooth speakers, providing powerful and nuanced audio, while the new Game Optimizer function – perfect for gamers – automatically applies the best settings for the type of game being played: FPS, role-playing or real-time strategy.

Finally, all the other Smart TV functions are obviously included, ensured by the proprietary operating system LG WebOS, a rapid, intuitive array that includes all the leading apps for access to on-demand streaming services compatible with the platforms Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit/AirPlay2.

This feature is produced in collaboration with LG SIGNATURE
