From 27 to 30 September, the pavilions of Veronafiere host the 56th edition of Marmomac, the trade fair on the universe of marble and natural stone. The most important event in this sector on a global scale, the showcase par excellence for products, machinery and technologies in this industry, Marmomac brings together 1167 companies from 47 nations, with a quota of 60% foreign exhibitors.
The exhibition is joined by a variegated cultural program including exhibitions, talks, lectures and workshops, supported by professional associations of Italian, British and American architects. “Be the Plus” is the slogan for 2022, an invitation to do one’s best, wagering on the value of excellence of Italian marble and stone through innovation and environmental sustainability.
One example of the initiatives is Less carpet more trees, which has eliminated 95% of the carpeting in the booths, reducing the need to dispose of materials at the end of the fair, and has planted 200 trees and shrubs in the surrounding area. The project has been implemented by Marmomac in collaboration with the municipal government of Verona, a city already in the ranks of the main districts for quarrying of marble and granite since the 1700s, and an international reference point since the 1900s for the processing of local and imported stone.
The new languages and the incredible functional and aesthetic potentialities of stone are explored at Marmomac in the series The Plus Theatre: through the projects of prestigious furniture brands, architects and designers, Pavilion 11 presents a narrative of the pathway of natural stone, from the quarry to the final product.
The educational sessions of Stone&Design and the project Italian quarrying and processing technologies are also back, with the participation of 100 architects and designer and 100 buyers of technologies invited from abroad, thanks to an agreement between Veronafiere, Agenzia ICE and Confindustria Marmomacchine.
This context also demanded reference to the figure of a great sculptor Antonio Canova (1757-1822), in a tribute 200 after his death, with an intriguing multimedia installation.
