Bonaldo in retro style

Vintage appeal in contemporary forms: this is a definition of the Nelson collection by Matteo Nunziati for Bonaldo: a bedroom zone of timeless good taste

Material beauty surrounds the Nelson collection from Bonaldo, a complete proposal for the night zone designed by Matteo Nunziati. While the bed is the main player in this theater of rest, it is joined by supporting roles like those of the bedside tables, the bench and the vanity desk in the same line. The red thread is the material, such as the canaletto walnut used for the structures of all the items.

In the double bed, slightly raised on slim metal feet, the identity of the collection comes to the fore in the wide, enveloping headboard: a wooden frame supports a smaller, soft and padded headboard, with rhythmical quilt stitching to add dynamism to the overall effect.

There is also the version of the Nelson L bed, where the headboard widens at the sides, becoming even more theatrical, to the point of incorporating the suspended bedside units. The vertical motif of the fabric is echoed by the canneté workmanship of the wood: a detail that offers an appealing three-dimension surface while bearing witness to the company’s exceptional workmanship.

Matteo Nunziati applies the same wood-fabric combination in the bench, a practical, discreet presence that enhances and completes the night zone. The bedside tables and vanity desks, on the other hand, replicate the wood-metal pairing, applied in the base and the tops.

The whole collection creates warm, familiar atmospheres, where retro taste is effectively shifted into the modern era by the contemporary profiles, the restrained proportions and the overall lightness of the forms.
