The enhancement of natural stone by SolidNature

“Monumental Wonders” is the proposal, between art and design, by SolidNature in collaboration with Sabine Marcelis and the architecture firm OMA

One-offs, between art and design. This is “Monumental Wonders” by SolidNature, an exhibition made in collaboration with the Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis and the international architecture firm OMA, with the aim of bringing out fine workmanship with natural and semi-precious stones.

Thanks to the project presented during the latest FuoriSalone through the creation of experiential installations, the material becomes the protagonist and the characteristic feature of every space, as well as a meeting point with advanced technology.

A philosophy that surfaces in multiple interpretations, from the monolith in Pale Pink Onyx by Sabine Marcelis, an artistic installation of a bathroom that is an ode to the essential, to the projects by OMA like Balance, a multi-functional cabinet in Green Satin Marble with shelves in Fresh Flow Onyx, and Inhabitable, a bed made with a fixed slab of Green Satin Marble and a block of Dark Emerald Onyx. All the way to the apex, with The Technological Stone, a block of natural stone with a rough finish, transformed into an electrical socket.

The synthesis of “Monumental Wonders” is creativity, ingenuity, craftsmanship, the desire to find innovative solutions that bring out the versatility of the raw material, alternating rugged use of stone with manufacture using powdered marble, giving rise to new textures and hues, as seen in the projects still in the development phase, revealing a constant focus on in-depth research.
