Sofaform: avant-garde solutions for contemporary living

The brand specialized in ‘space-saver’ sofas presents new items in the 2022 collection during Milano Design Week: Velasca, Turati and Horizon

Sofaform’s strength can be summed up in one word: determination. In 2014, when the productive prowess of Ivan Galimberti met the stylistic flair of the French designer Cliff Galante, the idea was immediately clear: to create ‘space-saver’ sofas that become beautiful, comfortable and functional beds. “And it was necessary, for our temperament, to do this by drawing on the finest available know-how in terms of workmanship, production and design,” Galiberti says.

Since then, the Convertible Contemporain collections, produced by Sofaform and enhanced over time by infinite variations and complements, have emerged as premium products on international markets, and today the company is an outstanding ambassador of Made in Italy in the world. During Milano Design Week, Sofaform presents the models Velasca, Turati and Horizon, with modern and increasingly avant-garde characteristics.

“The new Velasca, Turati and Horizon models have very clean lines, but they augment the characteristics of comfort when closed; the depth of the seat is larger, as is the height of the back, responding to the demand for relaxation imposed by the frenzy of modern times,” Galimberti continues.

Above all, in the urban contexts of big cities, the average area of apartments has shrunk with the passing of the decades: Galimberti and Galante have responded to this new need that still expanding in the contemporary world. In this outlook, the collections of sofa-beds and wardrobe-beds are constantly updated in terms of design, materials and mechanisms.

The research on the opening-closing systems (and their quality) is also a constant: the Sofaform sofa-beds are made to last, in spite of everyday use. The mechanisms are based on the latest advances in engineering, with CATAS certification; the coverings range from leather to high-resistance fabrics like ‘aqua-clean’ and antiallergenic microfiber, as well as cotton, linen, wool and natural velvet, with a particular focus on sustainability.
